Home & Garden Centre was founded in 2009, backed by an experienced garden centre team. We’re a popular online destination for garden gift vouchers, barbecues, garden furniture, and Christmas items. The role:

A full time role where specific areas of responsibility include picking and dispatching website and Amazon/eBay orders, managing customer service via telephone and email, liaising with our suppliers, and managing stock levels.  Candidates should be proactive with sound communication ability, bright, willing to learn and able to pick up new computer programs with ease.

Duties:

  • Process, pick and dispatch Website, Amazon and eBay orders
  • Manage inbound customer service phone calls and emails
  • Manage inbound sales phone calls, providing information on our products/services, and taking customer orders over the phone
  • Manage customer returns
  • Liaise with suppliers and couriers
  • Organise and manage stock areas, keeping stock organised and tidy at all times
  • Manage website stock inventory, maintain stock levels in the warehouse

Requirements:

  • Typical Microsoft Word and Excel skills required
  • Must have excellent attention to detail

Retail Assistant (Sundries Department)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and hands on Retail Assistant to join our team at Haddenham Garden Centre.

The position is full time: Average of 39.5 hours per week including alternate weekends

The main duties of the role include:

  • Assisting with incoming deliveries which will include unpacking the deliveries and checking off and booking in the stock on our stock control system.
  • Operating a manual and electric pallet truck as required to move product from Goods-In to the shop floor.
  • Merchandising products in the Sundries Department.
  • General housekeeping to ensure that high standards of presentation are maintained.
  • Delivering excellent customer service to customers, which includes greeting customers, providing advice and ensuring that all customer queries are dealt with in full and in a timely manner.
  • Providing support to other areas of the business as requested which will include covering the tills and assisting outside in the plant area as required.

Skills/Experience required for the role:

  • Previous retail experience preferably within a Garden Centre
  • Product knowledge (weed killers, fertilisers, propagation products, garden tools etc) would be desirable but is not essential as training would be given
  • Must be fit and capable of manual work as the role will involve bending and lifting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to quickly build a good rapport with customers, colleagues and suppliers.
  • Basic level of IT literacy
  • Highly organised with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Able to work on own initiative

  • Help manage the front of house operations and lead the team

  • Accept responsibility for security of cash, stock and equipment.

  • To maintain cleanliness of all areas in line with legislation and company standards.
  • Maintain all relevant paperwork associated with the role.
  • Assist in the training of new staff members.
